A cat named Rayne Beau managed to journey over 900 miles back home after getting lost in Yellowstone National Park, thanks to his microchip, according to an animal welfare group.

Rayne Beau, a 2-and-a-half-year-old seal point mitted Siamese, went missing while his owners, Susanne and Benny Anguiano from Salinas, California, were visiting Yellowstone. Susanne shared that he wandered off on the very first day of their trip to Fishing Bridge RV Park on June 4.
“My husband is my hero. He searched the forest for hours every day,” Susanne told KSBW this week. Rayne Beau had bolted into the woods after being startled, and despite the couple’s efforts to coax him back with his favorite treats and toys, they were unsuccessful.
“We had to leave without him, which was incredibly tough. I felt like I was abandoning him,” she recalled. Despite her heartbreak, Susanne never lost faith in finding her beloved pet. A month later, they adopted another cat to keep Rayne Beau’s sister company.
The journey travels over 900 miles back home
The couple had rescued Rayne Beau and his twin sister Starr when they were just 11 weeks old. Then, after 61 days of searching, they received a notification about a cat matching Rayne Beau’s identification number being found, KSBW reported.
He was discovered in Roseville, California, approximately 190 miles from their home in Salinas. The Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals confirmed his arrival, as noted by CEO Leilani Fratis.
“We hope everyone sees the value in microchipping their pets,” Fratis emphasized. When he was found, Rayne Beau was in poor health, as reported by the woman who took him in temporarily before bringing him to the SPCA.
In total, Rayne Beau traveled over 1,000 miles from Wyoming to Roseville and then back home to Salinas. While the couple is unsure how he made the long trek, they are overjoyed to have him back.
“We’re thrilled to have him home,” Susanne expressed. “Every day, I look at him and feel so grateful, telling him, ‘Do you know how many weeks I prayed to see your face again?'”The reunion was filled with overwhelming emotions, as Rayne Beau quickly settled back into his home environment. Susanne and Benny were astounded by how resilient their cat proved to be throughout his harrowing journey. Despite the long absence, it was as if he had never left; he resumed his playful antics alongside Starr, who also welcomed him back with open paws.
Now safely at home, Rayne Beau has become somewhat of a local celebrity. His adventurous spirit has inspired many in the community to take action when it comes to pet safety and to ensure that every furry family member is equipped with identification.
